Something interesting is happening this month. On February 19 the Lunar Nodes will change signs, moving out of the Taurus/Scorpio axis into the Aries/Libra axis.
Don’t worry; I won’t bore you with any technical explanation of the Lunar Nodes. Please, Mercury is retrograde right now and my brain is already mushy! For the purposes of this blog, here’s what you need to know:
The Lunar Nodes represent points we’re meant to learn how to balance. The South Node is the sign that we are most comfortable with. It’s what we know and what we’re good at. In your birth chart, the sign the South Node is in represent qualities that, well…you can basically do in your sleep. They are so familiar and effortless. And they’re cozy; like your favorite pair of flannel pajamas. But the South Node, for all of its comfort, isn’t exactly helping us grow. For that, we turn to the point directly opposite the South Node – the North Node. This is the placement that astrologers consider to be unchartered territory. Here are qualities you must develop in order to achieve soul evolution. But it’s scary up there. In fact, following your true north can be absolutely terrifying because it challenges us to do something that we are NOT comfortable with. And yet by doing this very thing we evolve.
That crazy Universe!
In any event, the Lunar Nodes in your birth chart are well worth exploring. The transiting Nodes are also noteworthy. Now wait until you hear what I’ve got to say about the upcoming transit of the Nodes in the Aries/Libra axis. Oh yeah…this is gonna be juicy.
You see, the Universe wants us to evolve now in terms of how we relate. The North Node in Libra symbolizes a brilliant opportunity to reach new growth in relationships (business and personal). To embrace partnering up in a way that (especially in recent years) we may have alienated. Ever since Uranus, the planet of revolution, moved into “all about me” Aries in 2011 you may have noticed a decided selfish streak in people. On the one hand, there’s incredible drive now to press ahead and go after what you want in life. To reinvent yourself…or to find yourself in some cases. That’s great and all but in this process of self-discovery partnerships may have suffered.
We forgot how to share and be fair.
I don’t think it’s an accident that on February 19 the Lunar Nodes switch into the Aries/Libra axis. This is a clear signal that we might be overdoing that Aries energy just a wee bit. It’s time to balance things out. If you’ve been going it alone for a while, spouting declarations of not needing a relationship or not wanting one then you might start to sing a different tune while the North Node is in Libra. This trend, by the way, will last until November 13, 2015 so don’t think it’s going to happen overnight. This is a process.
I will say however, that the process will receive a fascinating jump start from March 1 until May 19 while Mars, the planet of motivation, retrogrades in Libra. Talk about relationship rehab and attitude adjustments in the context of relating! Oh, and let’s not forget that on April 15 we’ll experience a jarring Lunar Eclipse in Libra as well. We’re in for some interesting times when it comes to partnerships, that much is certain.
But what if you’re in a relationship? Are you off the hook? Do you get a pass from the good old North Node in Libra? Ha! Fat chance. You get to figure out how to balance connecting to someone else while still managing to be true to yourself. Or, you get to stop being so self-absorbed and remember that the only way to grow is to remember that it’s not all about “me” but instead, it’s about “us.” For some, if there truly is no “us” in your relationship then the North Node in Libra may help you see that you don’t have a relationship at all.
