June 2008 Astrology Highlights

Despite kicking off June with Mercury being retrograde, the atmosphere in the cosmic sky is hectic! It feels as if all the planets are rushing through a crowded shopping mall, desperately trying to run all their errands in time for some giant cosmic deadline.

And that’s pretty much how you’ll feel all month long.

So much to do, so little time, will be the common theme everyone expresses this month. Collecting new information while you’re revising something considered old is sure to be felt as soon as June 3rd. On this day we have a busy New Moon in clever Gemini that happens to be aligned in conjunction to both Venus and Mercury. Everyone’s mind will be going a mile a minute with this energy! A wide square to Uranus only intensifies the potential for nervous energy and radical ideas.

What’s wonderful about this New Moon is that your mind won’t hesitate to tell you it’s time to “try something new”. Old, outworn ideas from the past have the chance now to be forever discarded. Your mind will certainly be on matters of the heart a lot during this New Moon period. The Moon is so close to Venus – only a degree away! Venus in Gemini loves nothing more than to talk about love and romance while the Moon will want to intellectualize feelings.

This is a perfect lunation to take a step outside of your relationship and think about what this person is teaching you. What are you teaching in return?

Since four planets are stacked in chatty Gemini now, it will be a veritable gossip fest wherever you go. People are going to be talking more openly about their love life, and will want to know everything about yours! The fact that retrograde Mercury is also aligned with this New Moon-Venus connection suggests that for some of you, reconciliation with an ex is on the horizon. It’s the start of something new – part II!

Look to June 7th for this possible reunion with a former love since that’s when Venus will be exactly conjunct Mercury. And speaking of love – the 8th will completely sparkle for air and fire signs since Venus and the Sun will be together in Gemini at exact degree.

Look to June 14th for important, life changing developments in your life and the world. On this day, Pluto, the planet of transformation, will re-enter Capricorn at 0 degrees – a critical degree we astrologers call The Aries Point. Whenever a planet touches the first degree of any cardinal sign (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) it suggests a major external event in our lives will manifest. In this case, transformation is “thrust upon us”. This will be most apparent not only in the area of your chart Capricorn is in, but also look to the house before, where Sagittarius is in your birth chart.

Pluto will leave Capricorn on this day to finalize important lessons in Sagittarius. Expect irreversible metamorphosis to occur in matters ruled by the house Pluto in Sagittarius will be focused on for the next several months. Yes – it’s that big!

On the 18th there’s a Full Moon in Sagittarius that is conjunct Pluto in late degree Sagittarius and opposed Venus at 0 degrees Cancer. You guessed it – another Aries point degree! Look to this date for a major event to occur in your life that has to do with the house this Full Moon is in. And you would be wise to expect it to affect your love life, finances or perhaps family situation (or all of the above) with the opposition to Venus in Cancer! Be sure to note the house Venus in Cancer falls for additional information about this Full Moon – it should be a whirlwind! Oh and did I mention this lunation is also square Uranus. Expect the unexpected.

Power, control, manipulation and endings are all a part of the picture. It could very well be the most intense Full Moon of the year. For a lucky few however, it will also indicate sudden honors and success. As always, it all depends on your personal birth chart. Since this lunation also occurs on a day that Mercury is stationary (not moving at all – right before it turns direct on the 19th) there might be a huge amount of unsettled communications. Try not to make any important decisions or sign anything on the day of this Full Moon.

After the 19th however, you’re in the clear to sign papers, move ahead with plans and unscramble all the miscommunication you’ve been experiencing over the past three and a half week retrograde period. Mercury will be direct and won’t turn retrograde again until the end of September. Whew!

Watch out for one last “red flag day” – on the 20th when the Sun is at odds with Pluto. This is a classic set up for power struggles.

The rest of June looks delightful however and you’ll find that it’s easy to get ahead between the 25th and 30th. Time your most important business plans and efforts for these days. Success is in the stars!
